Rework your basics

You don't need a ton of new products to look your absolute hottest. In fact, some of your best beauty tricks may be in your makeup drawer right now, just waiting to be used in a new way.

Instantly Alluring Eyes

Maximize your blush.
Take a creamy rose blush, and apply it in a half-moon shape under your brow bone and over the tops of your cheekbones. "You'll get a subtle sheen that draws attention to your eyes and makes your face glow,"

Wear contrasting eye-shadow colors.
It's a hot trend for fall, but just work with what you already have. Apply a bright, intense hue (like purple)on your upper lids, then drag a softer hue (pearly green) along your lower lash line.

Put bronzer on your lashes.
Comb loose bronze powder through lashes instead of mascara. "You'll get a subtle sparkle that's so sexy for night since it catches the light," says Miller. One swipe should do it—you don't want any excess flakes to fall under your eyes.

Hotter Lips

Turn old into new!
Instead of buying all new lipsticks, layer your existing shades to create fun new options. Combine brown and pink to make a sultry rose, red and purple for plum, and coral and red for fuchsia.

Pat foundation over your lips.
"Just dip a makeup sponge in foundation, press it to your lips, and let it dry for a few seconds," Dior global makeup adviser. "Finish it off with a clear lip gloss to add some shine, and you're good to go."

Fresh, Flawless Skin

Rub face primer on your body.
If you wear skin-revealing dresses, your legs and arms need to shine. "Primers contain light diffusers that even out and enhance your skin tone," explains Miller. "So it's great to apply them anywhere you want to draw extra attention."

Trade bronzer for blush.
To get the chiseled cheekbones from the catwalks, sweep bronzer (instead of powder blush) onto the hollows of the cheeks. "This creates shadows and depth so your cheekbones stand out more," You also can use a darker shade of powder.

Seasonless Beauty Secrets

Some makeup tips are so good, they work any time of the year.

Define your brows.
Use mascara to accentuate your shape and conceal any patchy gaps.

Conceal dark circles.
Dust a thin line of taupe (natural color) shadow under your lower lashes to offset any bluish under-eye circles, says Matin."It's an insider trick if you're running low on concealer," he adds.

Plump your lips.
Sparkly eye shadow dabbed in the center of your lips gives the effect of fullness. "The shimmer draws light, so your lips seem to bow out naturally,"

Get glowy.
Mix a pinch of metallic eye shadow into face lotion to warm your complexion.

67th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Beauty Breakdowns Part 5

Olivia Wilde @ 67th Golden Globe Awards

Lisa Edelstein @ 67th Golden Globe Awards

Rose Byrne @ 67th Golden Globe Awards

Ana Marie prepped the skin with Secret de Vie Toner (her favorite!) and then applied Lancôme Bienfait Multi Vital moisturizer to keep skin hydrated and fresh. Lancôme Absolue Foundation in Ecru was applied with a foundation brush and blended with a makeup sponge. This helps the foundation go on evenly and keep the skin looking radiant.

To create a sultry smokey eye, Ana Marie used Lancôme Eyeshadow Quad in Innocence Couture. The Positive shade was swept all over the eyelid and Fashion Scoop and Backstage Pass were blended just to the lash line and smudged. Next, Lancôme Artliner in Noir was used to create a cat line for extra drama. Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black coated the top and bottom lashes.

Lancôme Color Design Cream Blush in Petticoat Pink was dabbed on the apples of the cheek and then topped with a powder blush, Lancôme Blush Subtil in Cedar Rose. This technique helps keep the cheek color fresh all day, even with the rain! Shu Uemura Loose Powder in Translucent was dusted on the T-zone to create a matte complexion. Finally, Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Simmer gave Rose her ultra-glossy pout.

Emily Blunt @ 67th Golden Globe Awards

Jenn Streicher, makeup artist using Dior Beauty, says her inspiration was: “Emily wore a beautiful sleeveless pink frilly dress, so we wanted the makeup to be beautiful, soft and feminine.”

Kate Hudson @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“Golden Globes makeup is all about the dress. When I saw Kate in her gorgeous white dress, I knew we had to go for a clean, sophisticated, pretty look – very Grace Kelly.” — Leslie Lopez, Makeup Artist

“I prepped Kate’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid before applying her base, L’Oreal True Match Foundation in N-3. In the crease of her eyes I used the grey shade from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Blue Celestes. I applied the lightest silvery white shade under the brow bone, as well as under the lash line. The inside of her eyes were lined with Almay black eye pencil, and I finished the eyes with CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. Finally, on her lips I used CHANEL Aqualumiere Sheer Colour Lipshine in Malta, a sheer subtle peach shade.” — Leslie Lopez, Makeup Artist

Heidi Klum @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Amy Poehler @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Sandra Bullock @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“I prepped Sandra’s skin with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Cream. Her eyes were a mixture of CHANEL shadows – Silky Eyeshadow Duo in Orient-Express, and Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Trace. I then lined the eyes with CHANEL Long Lasting Eyeliner in Violine, a deep, soft purple shade. On her cheeks, I used CHANEL Tweed Blush Duo in Tweed Rose. Finally, on her lips she wore CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Beige Felin. — Angela Levin, Makeup Artist

Leona Lewis @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

January Jones @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“January’s Golden Globes makeup was all about taking a fresh approach to the classic red lip.” — Rachel Goodwin, Makeup Artist

“I used Le Blanc de CHANEL under her base to create luminous ‘glowing from the inside’ porcelain skin, then treated her lips with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Lip Treatment before applying CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Paris – a gorgeous garnet red from a new lipstick line launching in March. I painted the finest black line on her upper lid with CHANEL Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir and shaded under her eyes with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Graphite in the outer corners. I finished her look by layering lots of different false eyelashes then added Exceptionnel de CHANEL Noir Obscur Mascara over the top for an intense black lash line.” — Rachel Goodwin, Makeup Artist

Courteney Cox @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Make Up:

Celebrity makeup artist Genevieve gave Courteney Cox her Golden Globes look, pairing a sexy smoky eye with a pale nude lip.Genevieve lined Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Gris Noir on the upper and lower lash line to define Courteney’s eyes. Several coats of Lancôme Hypnôse mascara in black gave her lashes a beautiful boost of volume. Genevieve added Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in Honeymoon to the inner corner and The New Black to the outer corner to make Courteney’s eyes pop. Genevieve added just a touch of color to the cheeks with Giorgio Armani Sheer Cream Blush #2. For Courteney’s soft neutral colored pout, Genevieve dabbed on Lancôme Color Design Lipcolor in Pale Lip.

Jaime Pressly @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Tina Fey @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Funny lady and Golden Globes nominee Tina Fey was made up by celebrity makeup artist Ana Marie last night at the 67th Golden Globe Awards using Lancôme products. Here’s the scoop on Tina Fey’s makeup at the awards straight from Ana Marie. The inspiration, says Ana Marie, was Old Hollywood/1950’s with a twist.

Tina’s skin was prepped with Lancôme Secret de Vie Toner (Ana Marie’s favorite!) and moisturized with Bienfait Multi Vital, a combination that keeps the skin looking vibrant all day. Lancôme Absolue Foundation in Pearl evened out Tina’s complexion. Ana Marie applied it with a foundation brush and blended with a damp sponge to make the foundation more transparent.

To create a sun-kissed look, Ana Marie layered a cream blush (Lancôme Color Design Creme Blush in Petticoat Pink) with a powder blush (YSL Blush Variation in #18 Coral Sand). Layering the different textures allows for long-lasting color.

For the eyes, Ana Marie lined the top and bottom lash line with Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Black Coffee and curled the lashes using a Shu Uemura eye lash curler. Lancôme Défincils Waterproof Mascara in Black was applied to create separated, dark lashes.

Lips were lined and defined with Le Lipstique in Sheer Natural and filled in with Lancôme Color Fever Shine Lipstick in Tempt Me. For a fresh, glossy finish, Ana Marie used Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Cherry Burst.

Mariah Carey @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Cameron Diaz @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“I wanted to blend my old Hollywood inspiration from the dress with the sunny California girl that is Cameron. So I paired the classic CHANEL red mouth with the golden sunny California eye.” — Robin Fredriksz, Makeup Artist

Make Up:

“I used the gold shadow from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystic Eyes in the outer corner of Cameron’s lids and crease, and then I used the darker peach and gold mixed together from CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow Quad in Demure on her lids. I lined her eye with CHANEL Precision Eye Definer in Khaki Dore, and finished with CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. On her lips she wore CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in Dragon.” — Robin Fredriksz, Makeup Artist

67th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Beauty Breakdowns Part 2

Christina Aguilera @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“I wanted to create a soft natural look on Christina to compliment her gown and new haircut,” said Kristofer Buckle for NARS Cosmetics. “Her dress choice was a beautiful pastel peach with silver. I didn’t want the look to fight with her gown. The final look is chic and seamless, with a earthy colored smokey eye and glowing skin.” – Kristofer Buckle for NARS Cosmetics

Complexion: Use the Balancing Moisture Lotion and apply the Makeup Primer as a base. Apply Firming Foundation and set with Pressed Powder

Eyes: Apply the vanilla side of India Song Duo Eyeshadow as a base, over the entire lid and up to eyebrow. Next, use the shimmering walnut shade of India Song Duo Eyeshadow and apply to the outer corner and under the bottom lash line. Then, use the warm rich brown side of Cordura Duo Eyeshadow just under eye rubbing into the lower lash line to create smokey eye. Curl the eyelashes and apply a coat of Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara to top and bottom lashes, following with 2 coats of Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara for full lashes. Take Nuits Blanches Eyeliner Stylo and dot in between individual lashes [Kristofer’s tip: “I used the Push Eyeliner Brush to blend the eyeliner in between the lashes, which helped to apply just enough without looking to heavy.”]

Lips: Use the Fantasia Lipliner Pencil and Niagara Lipstick. Next, apply Easy Lover Lip Gloss (NEW for Spring 2010) over. [Kristofer’s tip:“Applying a sheer pink gloss on top of a nude colored lip provides a nice modern pop of color.”]

Cheeks: Generously apply Orgasm Illuminator (NEW for Spring 2010) to cheekbones, décolletage, and shoulders for an all over glow. Use Malaysia Multiple Bronzer to contour cheeks by blending under cheekbones. Apply the Mata Hari Blush to the apple of cheeks and lightly tap on browbone. [Kristoper’s tip: “Lightly dusting a blush on the browbone gives life to the eye and melds the whole look together.”] Next, with short, back and forth quick strokes use Nico Blush to highlight cheekbones

Christina Hendricks @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Julia Roberts @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Make Up:

First, Genevieve applied Lancôme Bienfait Multi Vital Teinté to Julia’s flawless complexion. Just a hint of color was applied to the cheeks with Lancôme Color Design Cream Blush in Petticoat Pink. Genevieve used her finger to apply and pressed the color on to Julia’s cheeks. To create a dramatic eye, Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony was used. Several coats of Lancôme Définicils Pro Mascara in Black created lush, dark lashes. Genevieve opted for a soft natural-looking pout. She applied Lancôme Le Lipstique lip liner in Natural Mauve then coated the lips with Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Coquette and topped with Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Hallucination for a high-shine finish. –

Anna Kendrick @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Julianna Margulies @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“Julianna has such beautiful skin and a gorgeous beaming smile, that I wanted to keep the colors subdued and let her natural skintone shine through,” said Kristofer Buckle for NARS Cosmetics. “I didn’t want to use too much color because it might have taken away from her. I wanted it to be all about Julianna so I focused on highlighting her skin by encouraging shine and glow.”

Using fingers apply Orgasm Illuminator (NEW for Spring 2010) down the center of the nose, across cheekbones, and on the apples of the cheeks. Apply Firming Foundation all over face, mixing in with the Orgasm Illuminator.

Eyes: Apply both sides of Cordura Duo Eyeshadow into the crease and all over the eyelid

· Dab the sooty dark brown side of Cordura Duo Eyeshadow on the outer part of the eye [Kristofer’s tip: “I love the shimmering iridescent in this eyeshadow. A metallic iridescence softens the smokiness of an eye allowing it to look like it is part of the skin rather than looking gothic.” Next, use the sable shade from Brousse Duo Eyeshadow and lightly dust under lower lash line

Then, lightly tap Orgasm Illuminator (NEW for Spring 2010) on the inside corner of the eye. Curl the eyelashes and apply Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara

Lips:  Apply Cruising Lipstick (NEW Spring 2010). Next, layer Ophelia Lip Gloss (NEW Spring 2010) over the lipstick [Kristofer’s tip: “I love this soft pink, it adds just the right amount of color.”]

Cheeks: Dust Super Orgasm Blush onto the apples of cheeks

Body: Blend Orgasm Illuminator (NEW for Spring 2010) all over neck and décolletage

Calista Flockhart @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Jennifer Garner @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“Jen’s dress was a perfect nude colour, and the beads were pink and silvery. The overall look was champagne and beige. With her pale skin and dark hair, it was my job to bring colour and radiance to the silhouette because everything else was quite monochromatic. I saw it as an excuse to break out the perfect lip shade.” — Kate Lee, Makeup Artist

“I prepped the skin with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Serum and then CHANEL Sublimage Fluid Moisturizer, which leaves a velvety texture on the skin. On Jen’s eyes I used CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Kaska Beige. I liner her lids with CHANEL Long Lasting Eyeliner in Espresso, smudged it out, and used the dark burgundy shade from the quad along the lash line. I then used my favourite colour in the world, the beigey-taupey-lilac shade in the quad, in the socket line. I feathered it along the lash line as well, to blend the chocolate brown liner. I curled the lashes, an applied one coat of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir. On her cheeks I used Neutrogena a combination of Neutrogena Mineral Sheer Cheek Colours in Apricot, Sable, and Rare Rose. Finally, on the lips I used CHANEL Rouge Coco in Rouge Orage. I chose this shade because it has amazing staying power and incredible hydrating properties. It’s an intense rosey colour with a bronze shimmer – perfect or Jen’s full lips.” — Kate Lee, Makeup Artist

67th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Beauty Breakdowns

Drew Barrymore @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“The overall look was simple and classic. Her dress was so amazing that I didn’t want the makeup to compete so I selected warm-tones for a natural, soft look.” — Debra Ferullo

Make Up:

Debra Ferullo, makeup artist, put together Drew Barrymore’s look…

First, I prepped the skin with moisturizer and then applied Dior Skinflash Primer to set the skin. Drew’s skin is so gorgeous that she doesn’t need a full face of foundation so I applied DiorSkin Nude Foundation on the cheeks to give her a dewy look and on select spots for natural illumination. Lastly, I applied COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Blush in Plush Peach with my fingers to add a healthy glow and defined cheekbones.

The look for her eyes was a pearly, iridescent, shimmer with just a touch of color. I used COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire. First, I applied the lighter shade to the inner corner of the eye, then the darker shade to the lid for a colorful smoky eye look. Use your finger to blend the cream formula for the most control. Drew wanted her lashes to stand out, so I curled them, then applied three coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Length Mascara to the top lashes and one coat to the bottom lashes for definition.
For Drew’s classic red lip look, I applied Dior Addict Lipstick in Hollywood Rose #753.

Jennifer Aniston @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Nicole Kidman @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

“Nicole is a true Hollywood movie star – and I knew I wanted to go with an old Hollywood look. Somewhere along the way, I decided to kick it up a bit and make her eyes more sexy and sultry.” — Angela Levin, Makeup Artist

Make Up

“To prepare Nicole’s skin, I used CHANEL Sublimage Cream all over her face and neck, and CHANEL Sublimage Eye Cream under the eyes. Her eyes were a combination of CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadows – in Jungle, Bois Bleu, and Le Bronze. I gave her a slightly dramatic look with two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. On Nicole’s cheeks I used the perfect coraly pink blush, CHANEL Powder Blush in In Love. On her lips she wore CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in Santal.”

Ginnifer Goodwin @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Marion Cotillard @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Penelope Cruz @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Kate Winslet @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

Make Up:

Kate’s look was clean and luminous. Armani Luminous Silk Foundation showed off Kate’s naturally beautiful complexion. To create contoured cheekbones, Jillian used Avon Be Blushed in Blushing Nude and highlighted the cheeks with a brightener. Jillian Dempsey For Avon Professional Kohl Eye Liner in Navy played off the midnight hues of Kate’s dress. Several coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara in Excessive Black really made Kate’s eyes pop. For Kate’s matte lip, which she requested, Jillian topped lip liner with Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere for a soft, pretty finish. —
Jillian Dempsey for Lancome

Lea Michele @ 67th Golden Globe Awards 2010

MAke Up:

Makeup artist Melanie Inglessis used Dior on Lea Michele. Her inspiration: “Because the gown is so classic, we wanted to keep the look fresh, young and simple but still chic and classic.”

Eyes: Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Night Dust (bronzy shade), DiorShow Blackout Mascara,
Dior Waterproof Crayon Eyeliner in Trinidad Black
Lips: Rouge Dior Lipstick in Rita Beige #298
Cheeks: Dior Bronze Matte Sunshine SPF 20, Dior Harmony de Blush in Rose Brazilia
