Lahore (Punjabi: لہور, Urdu: لاہور is the metropolis of the Pakistani Punjab and is the second largest metropolis in Pakistan following Karachi. It is well known as the Heart of Pakistan, because of its historical significance in the blossoming of Pakistan, and in addition being a cultural, political and learning centre of the country and financial centre of the country's largest province, Punjab. It is often called the Garden of the Mughals or the City of Gardens due to the heritage of the Mughal Empire. It is situated near the Ravi River and Wagah, quite near to the Pakistan-India border. As legend says, Lahore was founded by Lav, son of Lord Rama of the Hindu epic Ramayana.
